ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
The World Martial Arts Institute was founded in 1990 in Naperville, Illinois. We distinguish ourselves from other "schools" and park district classes in that we are a genuine martial arts school. That means we do not just teach self-defense; we are also concerned about the development of character in people.
Grand Master Park evaluates each new student for their strengths and weaknesses, as well as showing them the basics. Then, the student is allowed to join a regular class with other students of various ranks two or three times a week. Every two months a promotion test is held, giving the student an opportunity to show what he or she has learned. This helps to build self-confidence and alleviate fear.
Our children's classes also feature occasional lectures on ethics and philosophy. Some topics include: Getting Along With Others, Opposition and Balance, Positive Thinking and Imaging, and Our Uniqueness in This World. Children are taught discipline in a loving and caring way.
In addition to the children's lectures, a series of voluntary lectures are planned for adults. Some topics are: Meditation for Relaxation and Natural Healing, Creative Visualization, and Asian Principles for Harmony and Peace.
We are proud of the way our former students have turned out, and many have come back to thank us for the contributions martial arts have made to their lives. We are constantly updating our methods and curriculum to reflect the changing needs of society.
